As I am closing down the campus yet again, I find myself reflecting upon the year. Whew. It really flew by this time. I found a great reflective structure from Two Reflective Teachers.
I learned...I learned that balance must be found between loose-tight leadership. There are times to pull in the reins so to speak to stay on track and there are time to pick your battles. I must say it's a constant struggle as an administrator, but it's one I've gotten much more adept at each year. Regardless, it's an area I will always be cognizant of and working towards perfecting.
I was stretched...in my legal expertise this year. With more and more blended families, an administrator must be updated on the latest family law. I've always enjoyed law and honing those skills, but this year has stretched me in a wide variety of ways.
I am excited about...the future. I am working to transition two campuses. It's a tough position, but it must be done. We are moving home - that in itself is very exciting. But I am excited to learn a new campus, new staff and new set of challenges. I've never been one to shy away from a challenge, so here I go!
I am beginning to realize....this is only the beginning. There are so many great things that lie ahead of me and the students/staff I lead. We are only beginning our journey to excellence. Excellence doesn't happen by chance, it's a choice. Join me in making it every day.

Dear Principal Kim B,
ReplyDeleteHope you are having a good summer. I am posting this as a comment since I could not find an email id for you.
I wanted to reach out today and introduce LessonWriter, a web resource free for educators. We would love for you to take a look and give us your feedback.
LessonWriter is a web service that helps teachers quickly adapt their own lesson (just copy and paste the text you intend to use) to create detailed teacher lesson plans in just minutes. Teachers can create differentiation groups to ensure that all their students get exactly what they need and support literacy and language acquisition skills, all within minutes and all for free.
LessonWriter was started by a group of educators who decided to address a gap in educational tools available for teachers, especially those with a high number of ELLs and the need for differentiated instruction support in their classrooms.
A short video introduction to how LessonWriter works is available at http://www.LessonWriter.com/demo. Do take a look and tell us what you think. Should you or one of your teachers be interested in the premium package (an upgraded, paid service – the basic level is free) we would be happy to provide you with a free subscription as well.
Hope the move goes smoothly. Have a good summer.
Thanks,
Nupur Johri
